Phantom Blade Zero FAQ
Answers to the most common questions about the Phantom Blade Zero game.
Is Phantom Blade Zero on Xbox?
No — Phantom Blade Zero launched on PlayStation 5 and PC (Steam and Epic Games Store) on October 28, 2026, and no Xbox version has been announced. The PC build requires a GTX 1660-class GPU or better; check the system requirements page before buying.
Is Phantom Blade Zero a soulslike?
No — the developers and most reviews describe it as a character-action game with a few soulslike trappings, not a true soulslike. Enemies do not respawn at Bells, you lose no currency on death, and dying in a boss's second phase restarts you in that same phase. The combat grammar (parry blue flashes, dodge red ones) is closer to Sekiro than to Elden Ring, but the pacing is pure action.
Does Phantom Blade Zero have Denuvo?
Yes — the Steam listing's DRM notice names Denuvo Anti-Tamper for the PC version. If Denuvo is a dealbreaker or a non-issue for you, now you know before buying; there is no separate DRM-free edition on the store.
How big is Phantom Blade Zero's download?
145 GB, with an SSD required — the listing marks the solid-state drive as mandatory, not recommended. Plan the install before launch night: a full 145 GB on a spinning drive is the most common day-one complaint.
How long is Phantom Blade Zero?
Fextralife's completionist run clocked 22.5 hours at 90% completion on one play cycle, and early community reports put focused story runs lower. Expect roughly a 15-25 hour range for a first playthrough depending on how much optional content — Rift bosses, superbosses, secret side quests — you chase.
What are the difficulty options?
Three modes: Wayfarer (accessible), Gamechanger (the standard experience), and Hellwalker (the master mode, unlocked after clearing Gamechanger). Adjustable Difficulty also appears on the Steam features list, and the story's design intent is that Gamechanger is how the combat was tuned — Hellwalker is the replay that proves it.
Is there multiplayer or co-op?
No — the Steam listing carries a single category: Single-player. No online co-op, no PvP, no plans announced. The whole game is built around one player's parry timing and Sha-Chi management; our multiplayer page covers what that means for buyers.
Does Phantom Blade Zero have cheat codes or redeem codes?
No — Phantom Blade Zero is a premium $59.99 single-player game with no code-redemption system, no microtransactions, and no cheat console. Any site claiming PBZ "codes" is chasing search traffic, not describing the game. Your progression levers are weapons, fragments and the ability tree — all covered in our progression section.
How many weapons are in the game?
The official count is over 30 primary weapons plus more than 20 unique Phantom Edges "wrested from the hands of fallen foes". The wiki catalogues 25 primaries at launch across three families: Single Blades (9), Twin Blades (8) and Heavy Blades (8). You equip two melee weapons at once, and switching mid-fight refills your Sha-Chi.
What is the best weapon in Phantom Blade Zero?
There is no single best — builds pair two melee weapons with two Phantom Edges and accessories. The early community standbys: Jagged Steel for Bleed pressure against flesh enemies (constructs are immune), the Sanguine line for its 20-second damage buff at level 5, and Hua's drop, the Scarlet Wraithblade, for Guard Break. Full reasoning on our best weapons page.
Can you respec or refund weapon upgrades?
Yes, generously: reverting a weapon to level 10 refunds all spent materials and Remnant Dust for free; reverting past level 10, and again past level 20, costs a reforge talisman — plentiful consumables. Phantom Edges use their own talisman type. Nothing you build is permanent, so experiment.
How do you unlock Hellwalker difficulty?
Clear the game once on Gamechanger — Hellwalker appears as the third difficulty option afterward. It is the game's master mode and the community's stated reason for second runs; Wayfarer exists as the accessible entry point, so the three modes cover the full spectrum.
Does Phantom Blade Zero have New Game Plus and multiple endings?
New Game Plus is confirmed on the wiki's feature list, and multiple endings exist across the main storyline and NPC side stories — the endings page describes them as shaped by your interactions, with side-story choices feeding back into Soul's own arc. Specific ending conditions are still being mapped by the community; no point-of-no-return warnings are documented yet.
What is the Whence the Weeping quest?
It is a side quest in Weeping Creek Valley, unlocked near the broken carriage where the "Against the Flow" chapter opens. Like most valley side content it runs on a timer — finish it before advancing the main mission, because the game relocates quest givers silently. Yu'Er's medicine quest in the same region vanishes the same way.
Is Phantom Blade Zero coming to physical release?
No physical edition is confirmed at this time — the launched editions are digital (Standard $59.99, Digital Deluxe $69.99 on Steam, with the $10 Deluxe Upgrade for existing owners). If a physical PS5 release is announced, the game hub will be updated; nothing is verifiable today.
